PURPOSE: To accumulate voices is long as possible even though the amount of residual storage capacity of a voice storage medium is small. CONSTITUTION: A storage section 104 stores voices. A compression section 103 is constituted so that plural degrees of information compression can be selectively set. An expanding section 105 is constituted so that plural degrees of information expansion can be selectively set. When a voice accumulation request is generated, a controller 110 computes an accumulatable time for every information compression degree based on the storage residual amount of a storage section 104 and notifies a user of it. When the user selects a degree of information compression based on this notification, the controller 110 sets this degree of information compression in the section 103 and starts an accumulation of voices. On the other hand, when a voice reproducing request is generated, the controller 110 sets the degree of information expansion corresponding to the information compression degree of the voice to be reproduced in the section 105 and starts the reproducing of the voice. |
