PURPOSE: To enable efficiently melting even a relatively small quantity of metal by a method wherein metal to be melted is placed in a container formed of a dielectric material and the frequency of a high-frequency current supplied from an oscillator is set relatively low so as to produce dielectric current in the container itself. CONSTITUTION: A container 7 which is set in a heating case 6 removably is formed of a dielectric material and forms a receptacle 9 inside in which metal 8 to be melted, such as injection needles of stainless steel, is placed and melted. A dielectric coil 4 is supplied with, for example, a high-frequency current of 380kHz from a high-frequency oscillator 12. The container 7 should have a diameter which is less than four times a penetrating depth of current, that is, a distance, proportional to attenuation of the current density to 36.7%. As a result, when a high-frequency current is injected into the dielectric coil 4, dielectric current is produced in the container 7 itself and the side wall around the container 7 with more concentration inward than outward. With a resulting elevation of temperature of the container 7 itself, the metal 8 to be melted melts. |
