PURPOSE: To allow a fixed station to effectively correspond to the intermittent receiving mode of a mobile station and to attain efficient communication by providing the mobile station with a function for informing the base station of whether the mobile station is in an intermittent receiving mode or not. CONSTITUTION: The mobile station is provided with an operation panel 1 to be operated by an operator, a CPU 2 for controlling the whole mobile station, a ROM 3 for storing programs, related data, etc., for the CPU 2, a RAM 4 to be used as a work area or the like by the CPU 2, a timer 5 for managing time elapsed, intermittent time, etc., a radio part 6 for communicating with a base station, a radio-only power supply 7 for the radio part 6, and an antenna 8. Immediately before shifting a receiving mode to intermittent reception, the mobile station informs the base station through the radio part 6 and the antenna 8 of the shifting to intermittent reception. In the case of restoring from intermittent reception to normal reception, the restoration is similarly informed to the base station. Thereby the base station can grasp the shift to intermittent reception and restoration to normal reception. |
