PURPOSE: To obtain a pulse phase difference encoding circuit of which the range of errors is uniform and the precision is excellent. CONSTITUTION: This circuit is equipped with a pulse circling circuit 10 formed of a large number of inverter circuits (NAND, INV) connected in the shape of a ring, a pulse selector 16 which makes an output of each inverter circuit binary by a prescribed threshold and takes it in on receiving a pulse signal PB inputted in succession to a pulse signal PA for circling a pulse through the pulse circling circuit 10 and specifies a circling position of the pulse on the basis of the binary data on the output and a voltage regulating circuit 22 which regulates an operating voltage of the pulse selector 16. When the operating voltage of the pulse selector 16 is changed, the threshold is also changed in accordance therewith. By regulating this threshold properly, therefore, the output of each inverter circuit can be taken in such a manner that phase differences of outputs of two successive inverter circuits are made identical substantially respectively and, in its turn, the range of an error in each value of digital data DO obtained by encoding the phase differences of the pulse signals PA and PB can be made uniform. |
