PURPOSE: To improve corrosion resistance of a current collector made of a lead-calcium alloy and prolong the life of a lead-acid battery in a trickle use. CONSTITUTION: A current collector 1 made of a lead-calcium alloy is positive electrode-oxidized in dilute sulfuric acid at 40 deg.C. The current collector 1 is buried in a barium hydroxide 8 hydrate or a strontium hydroxide 8 hydrate, and it is heated at 300 deg.C for 16hr then quickly cooled to the room temperature. A perovskite composite oxide layer 2 of lead and barium or strontium is formed on the surface of the current collector 1. When the current collector 1 is heat- treated at 250 deg.C or above, the crystal grain diameter becomes about doubled than before treatment, and the crystal grain boundary 3 is reduced. |
