Multifunction telephone apparatus with call phase message reception

The apparatus includes a telephone line (L) which routes incoming telephone calls. The call ringing tone has a message code inserted into it which is scanned by a detector circuit (1). If the message code is a correct, predetermined length, an actuation signal (DS) is transmitted. The signal actuates a processor (3) which activates a receiver (4) using a remote control signal. The receiver passes the decoded message to a TV display (10) where the signal is inserted on the TV image. A remote control receiver (11) allows remote pick-up of the telephone.
