The electricity distribution box has a calibrated principal box to receive the incoming supply (5), and an auxiliary box (4) to accept payment and authorise supply. The auxiliary box can be detached from the principal box. The cover of the auxiliary box has a standard female power outlet (10) to allow the user to connect to the supply. Delivery of power to the outlet is controlled by the payment collector in the auxiliary box. A circuit breaker is included in the auxiliary box. The principal box can be put in place during initial construction, and the auxiliary box added as needed. Provision is made to knock out weakened regions in the wall of the auxiliary box to allow passage of cables from the principal box, and to fix the auxiliary box to the principal box.
