PURPOSE: To apply gamma correction to both image pickup data of a negative film and a reversal film obtained by image-picking up the positive images of them. CONSTITUTION: Correction data for gamma correction of the image pickup data obtained by image-picking up the negative film is stored in a LUT 23N. When the gamma correction is applied to the image pickup data from the negative film, gamma correction data outputted from the LUT 23N is supplied to a code inversion circuit 25, and it is code-inverted, and supplied to an adder circuit 27. The image pickup data from the negative film is supplied to the adder circuit 27, and the gamma correction data is subtracted from the image pickup data essentially. When the gamma correction is applied to the image pickup data from the reversal film, the image pickup data is inverted by a full bit inversion circuit 21P. The gamma correction data of the image pickup data from the reversal film can be obtained from the LUT 23N essentially, and it is added on the image pickup data in the adder circuit 27. |
