PURPOSE: To provide a collision detection sensor which can be prevented from malfunction. CONSTITUTION: The sensor is constituted of a pipe 2, a pressure switch 3 and a space part 11. The pipe 2 and the space part 11 have orifices 14 and 13, respectively. The pipe 2 and the space part 11 are so arranged as to overlap the orifices 13 and 14 one on another. A liquid 6 is sealed in a part of the space part 11 and inside the pipe 2, and a gas 12 is sealed in the remaining part of the space part 11. The pipe 2 is deformed by a shock from the lateral side. At this time, when the shock is generated by a collision of a vehicle, collision speed of a shock force is fast, thus raising pressure of the liquid 6 and turning on the pressure switch 3. Accordingly, a signal to expand an air bag is generated. On the other hand, if the shock is a mischief or the like, the collision speed of the shock force is low, not raising the pressure of the liquid 6 and not turning on the pressure switch 3, and a signal to open the air bag is not generated. In this manner, the collision detection sensor is prevented from being erroneously operated to the lateral collision. |
