[Class 30] In a safety razor of the kind in which a double-edged blade is disposed between a protector plate and a clamping plate drawn together by male and female threaded members housed in a tubular manipulating handle by relative rotation therebetween, the male member is fixed to the clamping plate, the handle is fixed to the protector plate, and the female member is operable by a spindle within the handle, which handle is inclined to the plates at an angle of 60 degrees. In one form, Fig. 1, the handle comprises a tubular body 13, 14, bent at 60 degrees to the protector plate 4 and a spindle 11 rotatable by a knob 12 is journalled therein and rotates a female threaded member 8 engaging a screwed stud 5, by means of a coupling 9, or a universal joint or ball joint. Alternatively, a flexible shaft may be used, as in the form of a helical spring, which may replace the spindle 11. In a second form, Fig. 2, the stud 5 is bent at an angle, and the spindle can be screwed directly on to it. In a modification, the stud is inclined over its whole length at an angle of 60 degrees to the plates, and the inclined portion 13 of the handle is secured directly to the plate 4. In this case the holes in the blade and in the protecting plate must be large enough to allow insertion of the pins 2 of the clamping plate. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also a form in which the stud is perpendicular to the plates and is engaged by an inverted frustro-conical internally-threaded member constituting part of the handle and connected either rigidly or rotatably to the inclined part thereof, which has no inner spindle, special stop shoulders being provided to secure the handle in its proper position relative to the length of the protective plate.
