PURPOSE: To block the engagement of a splitter clutch collar with a gear to be engaged when both of them do not rotate at the same speed. CONSTITUTION: A compound transmission is disposed so that a main transmission section may be connected to a splitter type auxiliary transmission section in series, wherein a splitter clutch collar 92 is fixed to a main shaft 28 so as to rotate together, and is axially movable therealong. A blocking mechanism 117 includes a pair of rings 122, 124 so as to be spaced apart from each other, has a plurality of pins 126, 128 extending therebetween and is inserted into certain openings in a radially extending flange of the splitter clutch collar 92. Each of pins has a shoulder 132 cooperating with an associated flange opening 120 for blocking engagement of the splitter clutch collar with either of the main shaft gear 70 or a splitter gear 86 if the splitter clutch collar 92 and the gear 70 to be engaged do not rotate at almost the same speed. |
