The shock valve(6), mounted at the lower end of a flexible hose(2) attached to suction head(4) used to hold load to be lifted, comprises a housing(7) with two ports(11,12) in the bottom wall(10), a pivot mounted arm(13) carrying counter weight valves(15,16) and a spring(17). A momentarily applied shock to the valve, caused by a rapid acceleration of the hose as a load is dropped, results in the opening of one of the two ports. One of the valves is larger in size than the other and as the valve port is opened as a result of movement of the pivot mounted valves, which may be spring loaded, the vacuum in the hose is filled very quickly. |
