Die casting machine comprises casting in a horizontal cold-chamber contg. a cylindrical filling chamber (1) with a side entry opening (6) preceding a die. An intermediate vessel (2) with a tubular outlet (3) is introduced through the opening (6) into the filling chamber so that its end (6) is closed by the chamber bottom. The vessel (2) is filled with a required amt. of melt, and is slowly lifted to let the melt flow out through the gap between the outlet end (5) and the chamber bottom. The vessel (2) is withdrawn from the filling chamber and the melt is injected into the die by means of a piston (7).
