<p>The invention is a radiofrequency identification tag (100) comprising a semiconductor chip (111) having radio frequency, logic, and memory circuits, and an antenna (133) that are mounted on a substrate (141). The antenna (133) may be used by the chip (111) to modulate an incident RF signal to transfer information to a base station. The antenna (133) comprises one or more lengths of thin wire (131, 132) that are connected directly to the chip (111) by means of wire bonding.
