摘要 <p>The air cushion restraint system comprises an air bag formed from a flexible membrane having an inflation chamber engageable in fluid communication with the pressurised gas source, and a gas flow-regulating valve. An outer membrane portion is provided in the air bag membrane. The outer membrane portion has at least one aspiration aperture. An inner membrane portion is provided beneath the outer membrane portion about spaced apart locations proximately spanning the aperture. The outer membrane portion is larger than the inner membrane portion as measured in at least one direction such that a pucker is formed between the inner and outer membrane portions while joined together in a reduced stress membrane state. A gas flow path provides fluid communication between the inflation chamber and pucker for directing inflation gases from the inflation chamber past the inner membrane and into the pucker for expulsion through the aspiration aperture.</p>
