Method and apparatus for inspecting a vial (VL). The vial (VL) is conveyed on a rotary table to an inspection station (A, B) where the vial (VL) is held by a chuck (60) at its head to allow inspection of its lower part, and to an inspection station (C) where the vial (VL) is rotated by a belt (18) in contact with its body to allow inspection of its upper part. CCD cameras may be used to inspect the vial (VL). Methods also include arrangements of light beams and cameras to detect specific flaws, such as cracks. $$
