摘要 PURPOSE: To eliminate the need for a driving mechanism for a mechanical stopper and reduce the number of parts by outputting control signals to an electromagnetic clutch for a certain time after detecting the ends of fed documents and controlling a drive shaft to be prohibited from rotation. CONSTITUTION: A frictional member put in contact with a document separating roller at a given pressure is arranged on the opposite side of the document separating roller across a document carrying passage. An entrance sensor 160 is arranged in the document carrying passage between the rolling contact portion of the document separating roller with the frictional member and a document feed-in port to detect documents to be inserted from the document feed-in port. A drive motor 168 to rotationally drive a drive shaft and an electromagnetic clutch 184 to prohibit the drive shaft from rotation following the input of control signals are also arranged. A control means 166 outputs control signals to the electromagnetic clutch 184 for a certain time after the ends of the documents are detected by the entrance sensor 160 and prohibits the drive shaft from rotation.
