METHOD FOR TREATING SALT WATER

PURPOSE: To make a stable, economic and industrially high treatment possible by bringing a granular ion exchange resin supporting zirconium hydroxide into contact with salt water or an aqueous solution in a fluidized state in a sulfate ion adsorption and desorption process. CONSTITUTION: This treating method comprises the following sulfate ion adsorption and desorption processes. (1) A process for dispersing sulfate ion-containing salt water and a granular ion exchange resin supporting zirconium hydroxide and bringing into contact with each other under an acidic condition in a fluidized state with a fluid and adsorbing and removing the sulfate ion. (2) A process for dispersing the granular ion exchange resin having adsorbed the sulfate ion and an aqueous solution having a high pH value than the pH value of the adsorption process and bringing into contact with each other in a fluidized state and desorbing the adsorbed sulfate ion. Contact efficiency is extremely improved by the method. Since the fluidized state is formed without bringing the granular ion exchange resin into contact with an agitating element or an impeller of a pump in dispersion and contact, loss of the granular ion exchange resin discharged out of the system caused by pulverization by crushing can be controlled.
