PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the driving characteristics of a transmission and provide an optimal output by setting an appropriate number of control curves and/or rotation speed limits to the function of the input speed in the transmission and setting the input speed of the transmission to not zero relative to the notional output speed of the transmission of zero according to the function. SOLUTION: This continuously variable transmission is provided, for example, with an input shaft 41 and an output shaft 47 connected to a power engine and fixing disks 42, 48 and sliding disks 43, 49 are provided therewith respectively. The respective disks 43, 49 are provided with cylinders respectively and the respective cylinder chambers 44, 52 are connected to respective conduits 46, 53. A drive medium 54 is disposed between the respective disk pairs. The transmission ratio is determined by the ratio of the radial position between the respective disk pairs. In this case, an appropriate number of control curves and/or rotation speed limits are set to a function of an input speed in a transmission and the input speed of the transmission is not zero for the notional output speed of the transmission of zero according to the function. |
