PURPOSE: To realize the simplification and the speedup of the rotation processing of an image. CONSTITUTION: A read-out/write-in control circuit 1 divides the rectangular image with the same number of picture elements in both longitudinal and lateral directions in an image memory 2 into plural areas on the basis of a given angle of rotation, and generates and address switching signal and a register control signal for each area in prescribed order. An address control circuit 3 generates successively position data to specify the picture element position of the corresponding picture element between each area and another from the position data of the picture element of some one area and its complement data on the basis of the address switching signal and an address stepping signal from the read-out/white-in control circuit 1. Thus, at the time of the read-out control of the read-out/write-in control circuit 1, the position data of each corresponding picture element is read out of the image memory, and is stored in an image data preservation circuit 4. Each stored image data is outputted in the order based on the angle of rotation at the time of write-in control, and is written as the image data of the picture element position of each corresponding picture element of the image memory 2. |
