PURPOSE: To provide a range finder which uses light emission from a stroboscope and which can precisely measure a distance with less energy loss by setting the volume of light emission from the stroboscope to an optimum constant value. CONSTITUTION: A range finding part 2 connected thereto with a measurement starting switch 1, is connected to a stroboscope control part 3 for controlling the light emission of the stroboscope, a computing part 4, a charge voltage detecting part 5, and a data memory part 6. The stroboscope control part 3 is connected to the computing part 4 through the intermediary of the charge voltage control part 5, and the data memory means 6 is connected to the computing part 4. When the measurement starting switch 1 is turned on, the charge voltage detecting part 5 detects a charge voltage of a main capacitor. The computing part 4 computes a light emitting volume of the stroboscope in accordance with an output from the data memory part 6 in which a relationship between the charge voltage and a light emitting volume of the stroboscope is stored, and the stroboscope control part 3 control the light emission of the stroboscope. |
