<p>PURPOSE: To enhance the stability and durability of a surface conduction type electron emitting element which is used as an electron source for an image forming device or the like. CONSTITUTION: In a surface conduction type electron emitting element in which an electron emitting part 2 is provided in a conductive thin film 3 for interconnecting element electrodes 4, 5 provided on a substrate 1, the conductive thin film 3 comprises a metal oxide. The element electrodes 4, 5 are constituted of backing layers 4a, 5a comprising a conductive oxide in contact with the substrate 1 and the conductive thin film 3 and metal electrode layers 4b, 5b covering the backing layers.</p> |
