PURPOSE: To obtain an image reader which can move a readout means smoothly at a broad range of speed and by which a readout operation can be performed always well irrespective of whether a magnification is for expansion or reduction. CONSTITUTION: A CPU 20 recognizes a designation operation by an operating panel 21, and it recognizes a designated magnifying or reducing magnification. Then, the CPU 20 gives, to a motor drive circuit 24, setting data which indicates a current waveform according to the magnifying or reducing magnification. The motor drive circuit 24 uses a driving signal in the current waveform designated by the setting data, and it drives a driving motor 11 by a one- to two- phase exciting system. |
