The invention provides a pharmaceutical composition for preventing restenosis by the inhibition of vascular smooth muscle cell proliferation, comprising a compound of formula (I) wherein: R1 is a member of the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, nitro, benzo, lower alkyl, phenyl and lower alkoxy; R2 is a member of the group consisting of hydroxy, acetoxy, and lower alkoxy, and R3 is a member of the group consisting of hydrogen and lower alkenoxy-carbonyl as active ingredient therein, in combination with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
