TREATMENT OF GUNPOWDER AND EXPLOSIVES

PURPOSE: To safely treat useless gunpowder and explosives. CONSTITUTION: The gunpowder and explosives are treated by heating and hydrolyzing the gunpowder and explosives in an alkaline aq. solution, in which alkali silicate or alkali aluminate is added as a reaction accelerator, to a temp. equal to or below the critical temp. of the solution and the gunpowder and explosives are treated by heating the gunpowder and explosives at the temp. equal to or below the critical temp. in the alkaline aq. solution adequately adjusted in pH to hydrolyze before burning.
