PURPOSE: To obtain a new compound useful as a therapeutic agent such as human and animal antihypertensive diuretic and bronchodilator, having excellent inhibitory action on c-GMP-PDE. CONSTITUTION: Substance FR901,526 having the following physical and chemical properties. Properties of substance: acidic substance. Melting point: 229-233 deg.C (decomposition). Infrared absorption spectrum: αmax (KBr): 3,270, 1,620, 1,570, 1,370 and 1,280cm<-1> . Solubility: soluble in dimethyl sulfoxide, methanol and acetone and insoluble in water. Color reaction: positive in cerium sulfate reaction, ferric chloride reaction and iodine vapor reaction and negative in ninhydrin reaction, Molisch reaction and Ehrlich reaction. The substance FR901,526 is obtained by culturing a strain belonging to the genus Pseudomonas such as Pseudomonas sp.907 (FERM P-13,714) at 18-32 deg.C for one day to one week. |
