Effective vehicle safety distance measurement method, esp. for road traffic

The safety distance measuring method involves measuring the time separating the time points at which the back edge of a leading and the front edge of a following vehicle crosses a fixed line. A clock with start and stop devices shows by how much the effective separation differs from the required safe distance. The degree of the difference can be indicated by the colour (GRUEN,ROT,GELB) on a scale with a pointer (Z), or by the colour of a display. Alternatively, it can be indicated acoustically, e.g. using generated speech. The fixed line can be implemented using a light barrier.
