Rotary solids heating chamber, esp. a waste pyrolysis drum (8), has internal parallel heating tubes (12b), the novelty being that the tubes (12b) are arranged in a continuous row along the wall (33) of the chamber interior (13). Pref. the tubes (12b) are round and are spaced by less than half their dia. from the wall (33) and from one another.
