A powered vehicle (10) to be operated on ice comprises a drive system (29) with a motor (32) coupled to a drive wheel (30), sliding rollers (22, 28) resting on an ice surface (11) and a mechanism (21) for steering and braking, comprising at least one pair of jacks (74, 78) with retractable shoe. Transmission means can send an order for changing direction and for braking to the selected jack as a function of a predetermined motion of the control lever (20).
