A process for isolating organic materials from contaminated water effluent is novel in that talcum powder is mixed into the contaminated water as a suspension, from which it is subsequently sepd. with the organic substances. Also claimed is a process for the concentration of tensides for analytical tenside determination from contaminated water, novel in that the tensides are bonded to talcum powder and concentrated, are then eluted by repeated washing with organic solvents and then passed on to an analytical determination process. Further claimed is the use of talcum powder for the concentration with the aim of reuse or removal of organic cpds. from water, of organic cpds. from solids, of organic cpds. from gases, of tensides from water or solids, and of niotensides (non-ionic tensides) from water or solids.
