Bending unit for profiled rods

The bending unit incorporates a driven rotary disc (1) with one or more clamping elements for the sections undergoing bending. The rotary disc is mounted on a bearing unit constituted, as a ball and socket joint and is pivotable by at least one drive (5,6) so that its axis of rotation during the bending process is displaced from its original orientation. The disc may be pivotable by two drives which are independently controllable. The pivot drives constitute controllable cross slides. Each drive may be a controllable linear drive. Alternatively, it is a controllable piston and cylinder unit, controlled by a programmable NC system.
