Biologically degradable glass fibre compositions

A glass fibre compsn. that is biologically degradable, comprising 50-60 wt.% SiO2, 0-2 wt.% Al2O3, 10-16 wt.% CaO + MgO, 14-19 wt.% Na2O + K2O, 7-16 wt.% B2O3, 0-4 wt.% TiO2, 0-5 wt.% ZrO2, 0-5 wt.% ZnO, 0-4 wt.% MnO, 0-5 wt.% BaO, 1-6 wt.% of oxides of Ti, Zr, Zn, Mn, and BaO, 0-2 wt.% Fe2O3 and SrO, 0-2 wt.% F and Li2O, and 0-4 wt.% P2O3. The said glass fibre compsn. pref. comprises 1-4 wt.% TiO2, 1-4 wt.% MnO, 1-4 wt.% ZnO, 0.5-3 wt.% ZrO2, 0.5-4 wt.% BaO and 0-2 wt.% MgO. If the compsn. contains ZrO2 and/or BaO, it pref. also contains 0.5-2 wt.% F and/or Li2O.
