A centrifugal pump has an electric motor in a metal housing 4 and the control electronics in a plastic box 6 attached on the side, but thermally insulated from the housing. The motor has a temperature sensor which sits in a hollow cylindrical shoulder 14 on the bottom of the control box. This shoulder projects into the motor housing and is in thermal contact with the housing or the stator. The shoulder is pot-shaped and open to the inside of the control box. To promote good thermal conduction, the shoulder is a close tolerance fit in the surrounding hole of the housing and the sensor is embedded within it using a thermally conducting resin.
