<p>A fuel injector assembly (30) has a fuel injector body (130) containing a nozzle (90) and a nozzle fuel cavity (94), a valve (159) with a valve element (160), a valve fuel cavity (204), a valve fuel cavity (210), a valve seat (162) and a pressure-equalizing fuel cavity (212) to reduce pressure variations at the valve seat (162) when the valve (159) is in a closed position. A fuel supply bore (206) supplies pressurized fuel to valve fuel cavity (204) formed in the valve (159), and the annular pressure-equalizing fuel cavity (212) is disposed adjacent the valve fuel cavity (210) and adjacent a periphery of the valve element (160) to reduce fluid pressure variations in the valve fuel cavity (210) so that the fluid seal at the valve seat (162) is not weakened.</p> |
