The damper assembly has an adjuster rod (22) which through axial displacement and turning effects the change from the pressure stage to the tension stage independently of each other. The tension stage during travel can be hydraulically locked so that the sprung-in front wheel is prevented from springing out and the bicycle at the front lies lower around the spring path to improve climbing capability. The connection position between the adjuster rod and adjuster disc is provided with a disc seat which can transmit torque. The torque is transmitted through a wedge profiled nut, a flat edged surface or similar polygonal profile.
