At least one stage of the turbo machine is mounted on the outside of the drive housing (3). The mounting consists of two support plates (25,26), which form angle brackets. The turbine rests on the support plates with two sideways extensions (27,28). A third plate (35), which is mounted on the outside of the drive housing (3) is mounted underneath the turbine housing (13) and restrains sideways movement of the turbine housing. The support is such that the turbine housing can expand thermally along all three axes, while the centreline of the turbine remains in alignment with the drive shaft.
