A convertor uses a transformer (13) with an oscillating switch (12), a pair of diodes (14,15) and a capacitor (11). The transformer has two primary windings (A,B) on the same core, with a single secondary winding (C) feeding the load. The capacitor is charged up through one primary winding (A) with the switch in one position. It is discharged through the other primary winding (B) when the switch adopts its other position. The inductive force is stored via the diodes in the windings. As the windings (A,B) are switched in opposing times, a magnetic field in formed in the transformer core which forms a corresponding electrical power in the secondary winding. Two sets of the circuit are used to supply the stator windings of an AC motor. A modification of the circuit is used for an AC/AC converter.
