<p>PURPOSE:To provide a treating method without accumulation of by-produced sulfuric acid nor occurrence of industrial waste, capable of continuously performing operation in closed system and low in treating cost in the recovery of sulfur and hydrogen from a hydrogen sulfide containing gas. CONSTITUTION:In this treating method for recovering sulfur and hydrogen from the hydrogen sulfide-containing gas by combining a hydrogen sulfide gas absorption with oxidation process, a sulfur separation process and an electrochemical treating process, hydrogen is produced and recovered and, at the same time, the by-produced sulfuric acid is reduced to produce hydrogen sulfide by introducing a part of a circulating solution taken out from a main circulating passage into a cathode chamber of an electrolytic cell as a catholyte solution. Then, a liquid-gas mixture discharged from the cathode chamber is returned to the main circulating passage as it is or, if necessary, after gas-liquid separation.</p> |
