The safety system is for a mains plug having an outer cover (1) with a central cylindrical wall section. The section has vertical and horizontal slots. The male plug has two outer ridges (3,4) with protruding sections. The plug slides into the body following the locator slots and engages outer slots in an upper disc, pushing the disc downwards towards a second static disc with distancing protrusions (21,22). The plug is turned to move the upper disc, aligning the holes in the first and second disc and allowing the male connector pins to engage the plug (31,32) in the socket base.
