The invention concerns a tea filter (10) which can be attached instead of a coffee filter to a coffee machine (18) in order to make tea with the coffee machine. The prior art includes a tea filter (10) of this kind fitted with a first valve (36) for shutting off the outlet (44) from the filter (10) while the tea is brewing. A disadvantage of this kind of filter (10) is that, on completion of the brewing time, hot water continues to run out of the machine (18) over the tea leaves, extracting bitter principle from them. In order to avoid this disadvantage, the invention calls for a water conduit (14) through which, on completion of the brewing time, hot water from the machine runs without coming into contact with the tea leaves in the tea holder (16). While the tea is brewing, the water conduit (14) is shut off by a second valve (42) which is preferably operated, together with the first valve (36), by lifting and lowering the tea holder (16) together with the water conduit (14).
