The interferometer (41) has 2 arms (11,12) with different geometrical path lengths, one provided by curved sections (113,114,115,116) and straight sections (111,112,118) and the other provided by curved sections (123,124,125,126) in mirror symmetry to the curved sections of the first arm (11) and straight sections (121,127) of shorter overall length than the straight sections of the first arm. Pref. both arms are coupled on the output side of the interferometer to a 2 by 2 coupler (42), for acting as a demultiplexer and multiplexer respectively for the opposing light directions. |
