GOLF CLUB HEAD AND MANUFACTURE THEREFOR

PURPOSE: To provide a golf club head having a forged metallic face plate which brings a correct impact resistance and feeling and can achieve an excellent ball control. CONSTITUTION: A golf club head is formed by an investment casting of such a material as stainless steel, copper beryllium, titanium, and aluminum. A face plate 11 of the head is formed with a forged metal such as a forged carbon steel and the like and its assembly is formed in one body by welding this plate 11 to the forged face part. The head consists of a cast stainless steel and the face plate consists of a forged stainless steel. It is desirable that the both steels have a same composition. It is also desirable that the material of the face plate 11 is re-distributed toward the toe and the heel part in the head.
