PURPOSE:To make a cell thickness hardly changeable by external force, such as pen input, and to prevent high-polymer wall parts from lowering the brightness of a white display state. CONSTITUTION:Since this liquid crystal display element is provided with walls 9 enclosing small liquid crystal regions 10 by high polymers between a pair of substrates 7 and 8, the inside of the cells is provided with the bearing force to the external force, such as pen input and the occurrence of uneven display in the liquid crystal display element by external force is made possible. Then, the element is made usable as the pen input liquid crystal display element by combination use with a pen input terminal. The material in the high-polymer walls 9 is also provided with double refractiveness in the orientation state similar to the liquid crystal regions and, therefore, the approximate light transmittance is obtd. in the regions of the high-polymer walls 9 and the small liquid crystal regions 10. The regions exclusive of picture elements are brightened and the bright display as a whole is obtd. particularly with the reflection type cells. |
