BIOASSAY FOR TESTING ACTIVITY MEDIATED WITH BETA-TYPE PLATELET INDUCTION AND GROWTH FACTOR RECEPTOR

PURPOSE: To determine the activity intermediate by a receptor in a cell by bringing an analogous molecule of a platelet derived growth factor(PDGF) into contact with the receptor formed by the cell which is transformed by a DNA segment which encodes a PDGF receptor (-R) protein of type β. CONSTITUTION: A T11 genomic clone, a human cDNA clone, etc., are used in a DNA segment. A molecule which is assumed to be an analog of PDGF is brought into contact with a receptor formed by a cell transformed by the DNA segment which encodes a PDGF-R protein of type β. The cell is preferably a mammalian cell and contains a yeast cell and a bacteria cell. Next, an amount of biological activity intermediated by PDGF-R of type β in the cell is determined to test the activity of a latent analog of PDGF.
