PURPOSE:To provide a cooling device whereby a CCD can be cooled enough even when the inside volume and the size of a video camera are reduced by the highly dense mountings of its parts. CONSTITUTION:On the rear surface of a CCD package 1A, a Peltier element 100a is provided, and further, a heat pipe 200 is provided between the Peltier element 100a and a head board 11. While an elastic rubber piece 20 is inserted into the part present between one end part of the heat pipe 200 and the head board 11, both the connection of the package 1A with the Peltier element 100a and the connection of the Peltier element 100a with the heat pipe 200 are made firm both thermally and mechanically. The other end part of the heat pipe 200 is mounted on a cabinet 7 by a mounting bracket 6, and the heat generated from a CCD 1 is led to the cabinet 7 without any thermal loss, and further, it is radiated to the atomosphere. The thickness of the rubber piece 20 or a resin piece is adjusted, and thereby, through the adjustments of the pressures applied to the contacting surfaces of the package 1A, etc., the thermal and mechanical sure contacts of the package 1A, etc., are obtained. Also, to the contacting surfaces, a silicone grease, etc., are applied, and thereby, while the thermal resistances present in the contacting surfaces are reduced, the package 1A, etc., are connected with each other.
