PURPOSE:To reduce the isolation of a fine dot and obtain an image of stable and high quality by processing image data to which phase information is added in addition to luminance information even when a mirror image or black-and- white image is formed. CONSTITUTION:In a storage processing means 1, not only black-and-white image data, but also half-tone image data are stored while divided into several stages by gradation levels. Position information showing a direction wherein an image should be shifted when formed is stored while added to image data of gradation levels of half-tones at the corresponding position of a pixel. This phase information is generated judging from the density state of adjacent pixels. A conversion and formation means 2 performs a process for forming >=1 of an oblique image, a mirror image, and a black-and-white inverted image is performed according to the luminance information and phase information of the image data stored in the means 1. On the basis of the luminance information and phase information of the processed image data, an image forming means 3 forms the image by using a pusle-width modulation system. |
