PURPOSE:To provide a method for cooling a power converter of an electric motor vehicle in which electric energy to be consumed to drive a cooling fan is saved and noise of the fan can be reduced. CONSTITUTION:The temperature Tfn of a heat dissipating fan 3 mounted at the semiconductor element of a power converter 2 for controlling a motor 1 for an electric motor vehicle and a current value I1, a voltage value Vdc in continuity with the element are detected, and the junction temperature Tjn of the element is estimated. If it is lower than the maximum using set value Tjmax, cooling air velocity is controlled to reduce power consumption for driving a cooling fan 4, noise of the fan 4 at the time of a light load is decreased, and traveling distance per one charge can be prolonged. |
