PURPOSE:To quickly transmit a picture by transmitting only required picture parts to reduce the transmission of unnecessary picture data with respect to transmission of the changing picture. CONSTITUTION:This picture transmission method compresses and transmits a changed picture 32 to which a fundamental picture 33 is changed. On a transmission side 30, the fundamental picture 33 and the changed picture 32 are divided into blocks, and a difference 34 between picture element values of corresponding blocks of the fundamental picture and the changed picture is obtained, and only blocks of the changed picture which the difference values corresponding to are larger than a prescribed threshold are subjected to data compression and are transmitted. On a reception side 50, picture element values of transmitted blocks are expanded and are added to picture element values of the fundamental picture (57), and a changed picture 58 is reproduced by picture element values obtained by this addition. |
