PURPOSE:To automatically decide various character sizes just by performing handwriting within a frame for handwritten input for the characters and symbols of any shapes by recognizing the character size of line drawings by comparing detected respective area using states with character size recognition rules. CONSTITUTION:When the line drawings are handwritten by using handwritten input means 16 and 17 within an input frame divided in plural section by the display of plural reference lines, a character size recognition means detects the area using states for indicating whether or not the line drawings are handwritten in the respective areas and compares the detected area using states with the character size recognition rules stored in storage means 2, 3 and 15. Since the various area using states and the various kinds of the character sizes are made to correspond to each other in the character size recognition rules, when the area using state is detected, the corresponding character size can be recognized. A CPU 1 recognizes the character corresponding to the handwritten line drawings by comparing the set of coordinate data with character recognition data stored in a ROM 3. |
