PURPOSE:To suppress increase of manufacturing cost while reducing the size by securing coils serving as a stator to the housing such that the coils face permanent magnets on the inside of a ring rotor, conducting each coil selectively to rotate the ring rotor and stopping the ring rotor at the end of rotation. CONSTITUTION:A ring rotor 4 is arranged while arranging a plurality of permanent magnets 5A-5D having different poles on the inner circumferential face. The ring rotor 4 is supported rotatably on the housing 1. Coils 3A-3C constituting the stator are then secured to the housing 1 while facing the permanent magnets 5A-5D on the inside of the ring rotor 4. Each coil 3A-3C is fed with power selectively, pole by pole, through a switch and the ring rotor 4 is stopped by means of a ball 8, a ball retainer 8A and a spring 9 at a position determined by rotation of any one of the coils 3A-3C upon power supply. This structure reduces the size of electromagnetic actuator while suppressing increase in the manufacturing cost.
